Con il termine “Troubles” si indica il conflitto che ha segnato l’Irlanda del Nord tra la fine degli anni ’60 e gli anni ’90, una delle pagine più complesse della storia europea contemporanea.

In dieci episodi, il podcast ripercorre quegli anni attraverso ricostruzione storica, testimonianze e memoria personale, restituendo complessità a una vicenda spesso raccontata in modo polarizzato.

Accanto all’analisi dei fatti – da Bloody Sunday agli scioperi della fame, fino agli accordi di pace – emerge una dimensione umana: le scelte, le paure, le conseguenze intime del conflitto.

Il progetto è ideato, scritto e prodotto da Samuele Sciarrillo, in collaborazione con Michael Phillips, e realizzato con la supervisione storica di Riccardo Michelucci.

L’universo narrativo esplorato nel podcast prosegue nei romanzi dell’autore ed è attualmente oggetto di sviluppo cinematografico in fase iniziale.

“The Troubles” refers to the conflict that marked the North of Ireland from the late 1960s to the 1990s — one of the most complex chapters of contemporary European history.

Across ten episodes, the podcast revisits those years through historical reconstruction, testimony and personal memory, restoring nuance to a story often told in simplified terms.

Alongside the major historical events — from Bloody Sunday to the hunger strikes and the peace agreements — the narrative focuses on the human dimension: choices, fear and the intimate consequences of political violence.

The project was conceived, written and produced by Samuele Sciarrillo, in collaboration with Michael Phillips, with historical supervision by Riccardo Michelucci.

 

The narrative universe explored in the podcast continues within the author’s novels and is currently under early-stage cinematic development.
